Step 1
In pairs, have your teens look through the fabric to find two pieces of coordinating fabric they would like to use.
Step 2
Once the fabric is chosen it is time to measure. Back at the main activity table measure the front face, bottom, back face and top of your device; add these measurements plus 2 ½ inches for seam allowance and flap. This measurement will give you the length of your fabric. Measure across the front face of the devise and add 1 inch for seam allowance. This measurement gives you the width of your fabric.
= front face (across) + 1 inch

= front face (up and down)+ bottom+ back face (up and down)+ top + 2” inches
Step 3
Stack your two fabric choices together with interiors facing each other and use your ruler to mark your measurements onto the fabric. Now you are ready to head to a cutting station to cut your fabric carefully around your markings.

Step 4
Sew the edges together (allow for 1/4 inch seam allowance on each side) with a tight running stitched leaving about ½ inch opening at one side for turning. Turn your fabric right side out. Tuck in the raw edges and finish that seam.
Note to librarian: you may need to give your group some basis sewing instructions at this point, depending on their skill level.
